JNTO Paris office promotes International Congress of Cytology (May 29th-June 3rd, 2016, in Yokohama)

In May 2016, the 19th International Congress of Cytology will be held in Yokohama. This is a major conference that will welcome more than 5,000 attendees. The Congress will run from May 29th to June 3rd, 2016 (and may even be extended further) at Pacifico Yokohama.


Tokyo will host the XXII International Society for Eye Research Biennial Meeting in 2016 (ICER2016)

Tokyo has been selected to host the XXII International Society for Eye Research Biennial Meeting in 2016. This event will be coming to Japan for the fourth time; Tokyo follows Osaka, Nagoya, and Yokohama as a host city. Having been held in the capitals of several other countries, the conference is now coming to Japan's capital for the first time.


2016 Conference of the International Society for Quality in Health Care (ISQua2016) to be held in Tokyo

In 2016, the Conference of the International Society for Quality in Health Care (ISQua) will be held in Tokyo. It is planned to take place in October 2016, with an expected attendance of 2,000 delegates. We spoke with Ms. Eadin Murphy, ISQua Events Manager, on why Tokyo was selected to host the conference.

New Hotel Openings

Another exciting property boom is under way in Japan. Grand Front Osaka is a brand-new shopping, business and entertainment complex outside JR Osaka Station that opened on April 26, 2013. The complex features 266 shops and restaurants, the InterContinental Osaka, and a convention center capable of welcoming up to 3,000 people for events.


New Airline Routes Launching

Japan's two international carriers, Japan Airlines (JAL) and All Nippon Airways (ANA) have recently launched new routes. JAL is now flying nonstop to Boston and San Diego in the US from Narita, and is also due to launch nonstop service from Narita Airport to Helsinki on July 1, 2013. ANA has recently begun services from Narita to San Jose and Seattle in the US.


Japan: Top Association Meeting Spot in Asia in the 2012 ICCA Rankings

In ICCA's annual global survey of association meetings, Japan was once again confirmed as one of the world's top international destinations for association meetings, and the leading destination in the Asia-Pacific region. The survey showed that Japan hosted 341 qualifying meetings, placing it 8th globally.
