What's New in 2014

Washoku, traditional Japanese cuisine, joins UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage list of Japanese assets. Fresh and simply prepared are the two terms that define this type of cuisine. Implicit in washoku is the absence of bells and whistles. This unique cuisine allows the flavors to shine.

Come on out and enjoy this world heritage cuisine and a variety of other gourmet foods such as Italian, French, Chinese, etc. during Japan Restaurant Week 2014, from Jan. 24th - Feb. 11th, 2014. About 350 restaurants will participate. From noodles to sushi to gourmet French cuisine, Japan has the food to satisfy the most discerning of palettes, as well as the strictest of budgets.

Osaka-Pop Festival


The first International Osaka-Pop Festival, a gathering of all who love Japanese pop culture, will be held in Osaka in March 2014. Categories include anime, cosplay, manga, etc. Awards will be given to recognize the quality and excellence of Japanese pop culture fans from around the world who have come to participate in the Festival and the Osaka-POP International Cool Japan Awards Ceremony.

Sapporo International Art Festival

The SIAF will be held for a period of 72 days, from July 19th - Sept. 28th, 2014 in Hokkaido. Several different venues will be utilized for different events. Sapporo has a distinctive culture, environment and history, and the art festival aims to show these characteristics to visitors while further enriching the lifestyles of the residents.
