News from JNTO

Just over one month after the earthquake, demand for travel to Japan is resuming, thanks in part to the support of many countries and organizations.

On April 21st, Supernet Tours ( is hosting its first departure back to Japan with its popular 7-day Kansai itinerary.  Covering the southwestern cities of Kyoto, Osaka, Nara, and Kobe, this program visits unaffected areas.

British and Canadian governments eased travel restrictions on April 14th, and the US Department of State has reduced the travel alert to Japan only to the 50 mile radius surrounding Fukushima as of April 15th.  Other signs of recovery are also emerging as shown by the remarkably rapid reopening of Sendai Airport in Northern Japan.

Areas beyond Tohoku are unharmed, and activities throughout Japan are normal.  Rolling blackouts implemented in Tokyo have ended, and visitors can view Today's Japan through live cameras and You Tube videos collected by the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO).
