The cold weather hit Tokyo and its surrounding area this winter to perfectly match the time of the Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver, but the cherry blossom season is just around the corner, and people start talking about outdoor activities for Spring. Yes, Ohanami, outing for sakura or cherry blossoms viewing; family, friends, or associates at work go outing where cherry trees are in full bloom with a lot of foods and drinks.
If you live in Tokyo or nearby, or happen to be in Tokyo, join Ohanami Cycling 2010, which is scheduled for Sunday, April 4, 2010. It is a cycle tour in the countryside surrounding Chiba City, about 50km East of Tokyo, between Tokyo and Narita airport.
There will be a cycling tour through the quiet country roads to sakura viewing points including the Izumi Nature Park. The park of 425,000 square meters space has 1,500 cherry trees, which is one of the top 100 sakura viewing points in Japan.
To participate, kindly inform the organizer, E Watanabe, of your intent, and show up on time at Chishirodai, the starting point, with your own bicycle, foods for lunch and drink. No registration fee.
