Grand Opening of the shopping center "AEON MALL KYOTO" (hereinafter referred to as the “SC”) currently under construction in Nishi-Kujo, Minami-ku, Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture, which Shimizu Corporation and AEON MALL Co., Ltd. have jointly worked on, will take place at on Friday, June 4, 2010.
About "AEON MALL KYOTO"
"AEON MALL KYOTO" is being constructed by Shimizu Corporation and will open its doors on Friday, June 4, 2010. The property management works including tenant leasing services and operations of the SC were entrusted to AEON MALL Co., Ltd. in November of 2009.
This SC is the 55th shopping center to be managed by AEON MALL Co., Ltd. (the 5th shopping center as trustee of property management), and the 3rd shopping center within Kyoto Prefecture following “Kyoto Family” and “AEON MALL KYOTO Hana”.
The SC’s location is in front of Kyoto Station, and is positioned as “zone to induce new facilities” according to the “Kyoto Station South Exit Neighborhood Area Town Development Guidelines” published by Kyoto City. Both Shimizu Corporation and AEON MALL Co., Ltd. aim not only to provide a comfortable shopping environment for the local residents and visitors to Kyoto from both Japan and abroad, but also to become a one-stop-solution facility for local intercommunion base.
Main features of "AEON MALL KYOTO"
1) Located adjacent to Kyoto Station, the gateway to Kyoto City with an excellent traffic environment.
The SC is located in the Kyoto Station area which has been developed as the gateway to the ancient
capital city of “Heian-Kyo” and is close to Toji Temple, registered as a World Heritage Site and famous for the five-story pagoda which is one of the symbols of Kyoto. The SC is also located along Route 1 which cuts across Kyoto Station from north to south.
Adjacent to the SC is Kyoto Station which is home to the 6 main JR lines, a municipal subway, and the Kintetsu Railway, and also a bus terminal for Municipal Bus, Keihan Bus, Keihan Kyoto Bus, Kyoto Bus, and Nishi-nihon JR Bus, therefore, the SC is in an excellent environmental location to attract a wide range of customers by promoting a visit to the SC by public transport.
2) New landmark in front of Kyoto Station that is a blend of both “Urban-type” and “Suburban-type”
The SC’s concept is to provide “something special and unique” for everyday life of a customer. With the message “Only One Selection”, the SC has approximately 130 specialty stores providing a wide variety of goods available only in the SC.
Composed of a very individualistic specialty store district, “Sakura Building” and “Kaede Building” are
connected by a bridge, and each floor has stores full of charm that have been developed to reflect various themes. They are aiming to create a one-stop-solution type shopping center abundant with entertainment for local residences for the first time in this area, which provides a new sensation, fun, and information each time the customers visit the SC.
