Setouchi International Art Festival 2010: Naoshima
2010 is blessed with many major Art Festivals to be held in several places across Japan, but the largest of all is the Setouchi International Art Festival 2010, held from July 19th through October 31st.
This festival, located on the beautiful islands of the Seto Inland Sea, will feature artworks from all over the world. The festival brings together contemporary artists and architects against the backdrop of the sea, creating harmony with the natural, cultural and historical beauty of each island. The great artworks include those of Ando Tadao, a world-famous Japanese architect, as well as many others from all over the globe.
The year of 2010 will see two other big art festivals: Aichi Triennale 2010, held in Aichi Prefecture and featuring various projects demonstrating contemporary and performing arts on a city-wide scale, and Shigaraki Triennale which will take place in an old pottery town in Nagano, the home of Japan's ceramic art.
