- Very Merry Xmas and A Happy New Year -"LOVE & PEACE"
The John Lennon Museum (Junichi Mizusawa, General Manager of the Museum/ Chuo-ku, Saitama-city) will be holding event entitled “Love & Peace” from December 10, 2009 through January 31, 2010.
In December 1969, John Lennon and Yoko Ono ran a global-scale campaign “War Is Over,” (*1) sending out the message of wishing for the end of the war and for jolly Christmas. In 1971, they created the song “Happy Xmas (War Is Over)” (*2) praying for peace, which became the worldwide standard Christmas song nowadays.
During the period of this event, the handwritten lyrics to “Happy Xmas (War Is Over)” will be exhibited specially at Zone 8.
Moreover, “Wish Tree” (*3) will be placed at the entrance of the Museum on the 2nd floor for visitors to freely write their message about “wish” and “dream” and hung it on a tree branch. After the event, collected messages will be delivered to the “Imagine Peace Tower” (*4).
Furthermore, the tribute acoustic live concert to John will be held at the Museum Lounge on December 23, 2009.
