The John Lennon Museum (Junichi Mizusawa, General Manager of the Museum/ Chuo-ku, Saitama-city) will be holding the memorial event entitled “John Lennon Memorial Days” from December 5 through December 9, straddling John’s obit, December 8. Though Tuesday is our regular holiday, we open on Tuesday, December 8 and also on the following day.
John Lennon was gunned down in front of his house in New York on December 8, 1980 at the age of 40. We have held the memorial event every year since we opened in 2000.
During the above period, we set the floral tribute space modeled after the IMAGINE mosaic (*1) in Central Park, New York, at the entrance of the Museum so as everyone can offer flowers for John.
On December 8, we will offer a commemorative gift to the first 100 visitors through the door, and analog records will be played in memory of John at the Museum Lounge, entitled “Tribute Melody to John Lennon.”
