“When I entered the tea house in the Higashi Chaya district, a historic neighborhood in Kanazawa, I really felt like I was stepping back in time. It’s very beautiful and you can really feel the soul of the place. A simple act of being served tea and a pastry becomes an act of mindfulness and meditation. I was completely in the moment, observing every detail around me – the visuals of the garden, the complex flavors of the tea, the texture of the wagashi (pastry). It was a real Zen moment for me. ”
