I had never been to Japan and so I didn’t know what to expect. I just knew that it was going to be a long flight and that I might not like some of the food and I expected to lose some weight.
The Fam started in New York City so that we could be on an early flight to Toyko. We had an opportunity to see the play Wicked and the Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center. The tree was huge and the displays and lights in NYC were delightful and the play was outstanding. Bob McErlean gave us a New Jersey tour of the NYC. It was a great start.
We eagerly got to the airport the next morning for our flight to Japan. Japan Airlines was on time and a comfortable airline for the long flight. Japan Airline is a partner of American Airlines, so we were able to get frequent flyer miles. We arrived in Japan on time to meet our Ski Japan Holidays representatives. From that moment on we were treated as we were royalty. The Japanese are very polite and so accommodating.
We stayed in Hakuba for two nights at the Hakuba Mominoki Hotel. The Mominoki is a very warm and comfortable hotel. The owners of the hotel even came to meet us and served us excellent food. The hotel had a lovely bath area leading out to gardens. In addition to the Hakuba Mominoki we toured the Tokyu and the La Neige hotels , all of which could work for the Florida Ski Council. The meals we were served were excellent. We were not able to ski, but we toured the ski facility and it appeared to be modern with up-to-date equipment.
